Manila, April 21 -- Government intervention in fuel pricing has provided timely relief to consumers amid sustained increases in pump prices, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said Tuesday.

Gatchalian cited Executive Order (EO) 110, or the declaration of a National State of Energy Emergency, as a necessary response to rising fuel costs since March.

"The government's intervention in fuel pricing through EO 110... is a timely relief given the rate of increases in fuel prices that we have seen since March," Gatchalian said in a statement.

He reiterated the need to ensure transparency in fuel pricing, noting that consumers should understand how oil companies arrive at adjustments.
