Manila, Aug. 6 -- Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian has filed Senate Resolution No. 581 seeking an inquiry into the absence of regular fuel cost audits in the power sector, saying stronger oversight is needed as rising generation charges continue to push up electricity bills for Filipino consumers.

Gatchalian said Thursday the increasing generation charges and the lack of routine fuel cost audits underscore the need for greater accountability and transparency to ensure that electricity is supplied at the least possible cost.
