ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug. 17 -- The city government has suspended face-to-face (F2F) classes on Monday at all levels, in both public and private schools, to protect learners from possible heat stroke.

Mayor Khymer Olaso ordered the suspension of F2F classes after the state weather bureau said the city will experience an extreme heat index.

According to the latest bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), this city's heat index is forecast to reach 41 degrees Celsius on Monday.

"Nonetheless, work in government and private agencies, as well as in business operations, continues as usual," Olaso said in his order.
