Manila, Oct. 14 -- Senator Francis Escudero has filed his legal submission responding to a show cause order directing him to explain the PHP30-million campaign donation he received from a construction firm executive during the 2022 national elections on Monday before the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The poll body earlier required Escudero to clarify the contribution from Lawrence Lubiano, president of Centerways Construction and Development Inc., to determine whether the donation complied with campaign finance laws that prohibit certain entities or individuals with government contracts from making political contributions.
