Eastern Visayas inflation rate rises to 8.4%
Manila, Sept. 15 -- Eastern Visayas posted an 8.4-percent inflation rate (IR) last month, the second highest price adjustment logged by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in nearly a decade.
The PSA reported on Tuesday that the August 2026 uptrend was higher than the 8.3 percent inflation rate recorded in July 2026 and higher than the national inflation rate of 6.1 percent last month.
This was primarily brought by the higher inflation rate in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels at 10.3 percent during the month from 9.6 percent in July 2026.
Another major contributor was the 10.6-percent increase in restaurants and accommodation services in August from 9.5 percent a month earlier.
