Manila, Aug. 10 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday lauded volunteers, local government units (LGUs), government agencies and other partners for helping transport and distribute relief supplies to communities affected by tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay and the continuing rains brought by the southwest monsoon or "habagat."

DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD Disaster Response Management Group described the cooperation of various partners as crucial in ensuring that relief assistance reaches affected families, particularly in areas where weather conditions continue to hamper disaster response operations.
