DSWD lauds drop in involuntary hunger, cites anti-hunger programs
Manila, Aug. 25 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday welcomed the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing a decline in the number of Filipino families experiencing involuntary hunger.
The second-quarter SWS survey, conducted from June 20 to 29, found that 20.3 percent of Filipino families experienced involuntary hunger, or being hungry and having nothing to eat at least once in the past three months.
The figure was 2.9 percentage points lower than the 23.2 percent recorded in March.
