Manila, Aug. 28 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) are set to pilot a program designed to prevent drug and substance abuse among children in street situations (CISS) and out-of-school youth (OSY).

The agencies completed a week-long training from Aug. 24 to 28 in preparation for the implementation of "Program Silong," an integrated psychosocial program to be carried out in Special Drug Education Centers.

The program will provide drug abuse prevention and developmental services to CISS and OSY and is being implemented under the DSWD's mandate pursuant to the implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act 9165, or the "Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."
