Manila, July 2 -- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has invited companies from Japan to invest in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the improvement project of the Metro Railway Transit Line 3 (MRT-3).

In a news release Thursday, DOTr Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez said at least 26 reputable companies from Japan have so far expressed interest in the project.

The invitation is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s order to prioritize the modernization of the MRT-3, given its critical role in ensuring fast passenger mobility in Metro Manila.
