Manila, Oct. 11 -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) said "no major impacts" were reported so far in tourism sites and establishments in Mindanao following the powerful twin earthquakes that struck off the coast of Manay, Davao Oriental on Friday.

In a public advisory dated Oct. 10, the DOT said its crisis team was activated to provide impact assessment and assistance to local authorities.

"Initial reports from Davao Oriental and neighboring provinces indicate no recorded damage to tourism sites or establishments," it said.

"Local government units and tourism offices are continuing inspections and monitoring for aftershocks and possible secondary hazards such as landslides and infrastructure issues," it added.
