DOLE taps 70 PDL to fix jail facilities in Southern Leyte
TACLOBAN CITY, July 17 -- Seventy persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Sogod District Jail in Southern Leyte were the latest recruits of the Department of Labor and Employment in Eastern Visayas (DOLE-8) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
The PDL beneficiaries rendered 20 days of work involving cleaning, sanitation, repainting and minor repair of jail facilities.
The 70 PDL were among the 620 TUPAD beneficiaries who completed 20 days of community-based work in the municipalities of Sogod and Silago.
Other TUPAD projects included hydroponic farming, community vegetable gardening, Crown-of-Thorns starfish eradication, and the cleaning and maintenance of public facilities.
