Manila, Aug. 15 -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Saturday reminded private sector companies on the proper pay rules for Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working day on Aug. 21, and National Heroes Day, a regular holiday on Aug. 31.

Labor Advisory 31 states that employees are entitled to receive 200 percent or a double pay of their daily rate, if they report to work on a regular holiday (basic wage x 200 percent)

In case the employee did not work on the day, he/she will receive 100 percent of the salary for that day, provided that the employee will work or is on leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the regular holiday.
