DepEd condemns killing of teacher on first day of school
TACLOBAN CITY, June 9 -- The Department of Education-Eastern Visayas (DepEd-8) condemned the death of a public school teacher in Eastern Samar on the first day of the new academic year on Monday.
In a statement Tuesday, DepEd-Region 8 extended condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and students of Anthony Pardilan, 36, head teacher of Naga Elementary School in Quinapondan District.
He was found dead in Baranga Alang-Alang Alang on Monday morning with stab wounds to the neck and back, according to the police.
"Mr. Pardilan dedicated his life to the noble profession of educating and guiding young learners, and his contributions to the school and community will always be remembered," the regional office said.
