Manila, Sept. 16 -- The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has slashed its proposed 2027 budget to PHP3.12 billion, lower by PHP444.23 million or 12.45 percent from its 2026 budget, as part of its efforts to promote fiscal discipline.

In a statement on Wednesday, the DBM said the 12.45-percent reduction in its proposed budget under the 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP) reflects the agency's commitment to "disciplined, purposeful, and results-oriented" spending.

"Fiscal discipline begins within the institution entrusted with managing the national budget - controlling costs where possible, protecting essential functions and reforms, and demanding greater value from every peso spent," the DBM said.
