MANILA, Aug. 22 -- The Department of Agriculture's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DA-DRRM) Operations Center on Friday advised farmers and fishers to take precautionary measures against the possible effects of Tropical Depression Isang.

The reminder came after Isang made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora, prompting the weather bureau to place some parts of Luzon under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1.

In its advisory, the DA-DRRM urged farmers to harvest mature crops early, store seeds and planting materials in safe areas, transfer machinery and tools to higher ground, and clear irrigation and drainage systems to prevent flooding.
