Manila, Oct. 15 -- The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) on Thursday condemned discriminatory remarks in a podcast, warning that ridicule of persons with disabilities reinforces stereotypes that expose children to bullying, exclusion, and discrimination.

The statement came following the Oct. 5 episode of the Machong Chismisan podcast titled "Ang Pagbabalik ni Kris Aquino," in which a co-host identified as Tito P made disparaging remarks about Aquino's elder son, Joshua, who is on the autism spectrum.

A 26-second clip of the exchange circulated online, drawing condemnation from disability advocates.

The episode has since been taken down, while The Pod Network terminated its contract with the podcast following the backlash.
