Manila, Sept. 14 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) targets to register at least three million overseas voters for the 2028 national and local elections (NLE).

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia was optimistic about achieving the target overseas voter registrants since it will be a presidential elections.

"2028 is a very crucial year. 2028 is crucial in our political history because we are electing the president and vice president and other positions. This is very important," Garcia said during the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the establishment of field overseas voter registration centers last week.

Garcia said they hope to get some two million new voters when the overseas voter registration resumes Dec. 1.
