Manila, Aug. 5 -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is nearing its 1-million target in the number of voter registrants during the 10-day nationwide registration that began on Aug. 1.

Based on poll body data as of Monday, there was already a total of 888,042 applicants all over the country.

Of the number, Central Luzon has the largest number of registrants at 208,398, followed by Calabarzon with 102,235.

The National Capital Region is in third place with 64,131.

The region that recorded the lowest number of applicants is Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) with 12,987.

The highest number of applications was received on Aug. 4 -- which was Day 4 of the registration -- at 262,593.
