DUMAGUETE CITY, July 23 -- The Commission on Elections in the Negros Island Region has launched a new voter education initiative in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, aimed at strengthening civic participation among young people ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections on Nov. 2.

Lawyer Lionel Marco Castillano, Comelec-NIR regional election director, said Thursday that a memorandum of agreement for the Project Values-driven, Organized, Technologically Empowered Youth was signed Wednesday by the Comelec, the Tanjay City local government, the Department of Education, and the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV).

Tanjay City election officer Lawyer Felicisimo Catacutan Jr. initiated the project.
