Manila, Sept. 9 -- The Commission on Higher Education in Bicol (CHED-5) has urged higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region to adopt the "Zone of Peace" concept, which promotes campus safety while encouraging student participation, inclusion, and community engagement.

The initiative urges HEIs to foster peace by implementing strategies that prevent violence and by promoting programs that enhance participation, respect, and a sense of belonging within the academic community.

CHED-5 Regional Director Demetrio Anduyan Jr. on Wednesday said the concept is anchored in the PEACE framework, which covers Peace and Protection; Empowerment and Engagement; Arts and Culture; Creativity and Community; and Environment and Education.
