India, Sept. 23 -- The local government on Tuesday confiscated almost 300 kilograms of foul-smelling chicken meat that were about to be sold in public markets.
Led by the City Veterinary Office (CVO), personnel intercepted the spoiled dressed chicken after receiving complaints from consumers.
CVO chief Dr. Helen Ann Tacandong said the meat were separated and disposed of by burying it in an undisclosed area.
She urged consumers to be vigilant when buying poultry products.
"Always look for the meat inspection certificate to prove that the meat has passed the standards," she said.
