MANILA, Oct. 16 -- Canada is providing over PHP26 million (CAD625,000) in humanitarian assistance to support emergency relief efforts in the Philippines following the series of earthquakes and storms that struck parts of the country.

The Canadian Embassy in Manila said Thursday the funding would be coursed through three non-government organizations - World Vision, Philippine Red Cross, and Angat Buhay (Angat Pinas, Inc.).

"The Philippines is especially vulnerable to natural disasters, and Canada stands with its people as they face the impacts of these recent disasters.
