Manila, Aug. 10 -- The Court of Appeals (CA) has dismissed the appeal filed by a man charged with carnapping in connection with the July 2022 shooting at the Ateneo de Manila University campus, which left three people dead, including former Lamitan, Basilan Mayor Rosita Furigay.

In a 15-page decision published online on Monday, the CA's Thirteenth Division dismissed the petition filed by the accused, Doctor Chao-Tiao Yumol, questioning the filing of separate charges for alleged violation of RA 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, against him.
