Manila, April 28 -- The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Tuesday said it has commenced construction of a new corrections facility in the Inagawan Sub-Colony of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

In a statement, BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. said the PHP480-million project inside the 10-hectare secured compound in Sitio Tagbarungis, Barangay Inagawan will primarily address overcrowding of existing prisons, which has compromised the inmates' safety, security, and living conditions.
