Manila, Aug. 21 -- The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has modified the inspection and accounting of issued firearms to its personnel from quarterly to monthly, amid Tuesday's shooting incident inside the Ateneo de Zamboanga University, wherein the suspect, the son of a bureau official, supposedly used a BOC-issued firearm.

In a memorandum dated Aug. 18, Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno ordered the Enforcement Group (EG) and Intelligence Group (IG) deputy commissioners to conduct a monthly physical accounting and inspection of all firearms issued to its personnel.
