BOC: Position papers on Subic e-waste shipments due this week
Manila, July 7 -- Government agencies and environmental groups will submit position papers this week on the electronic waste shipments found at the Subic Bay Freeport in Olongapo City, a Bureau of Customs (BOC) official said Tuesday.
BOC Deputy Chief of Staff lawyer Chris Noel Bendijo said the BOC, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Office of the Solicitor General, EcoWaste Coalition, BAN Toxics, and other concerned groups will provide recommendations on how to address the issue.
"We will be sending out issues identified during the meeting which are suggested to be addressed in their position papers. Submission is this week," Bendijo said in a text message.
