Manila, March 23 -- The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) on Monday announced a PHP45 increase in the daily pay of minimum wage earners and a PHP1,000 monthly salary hike of domestic workers (kasambahay) in the Bicol Region (Region 5).

In a social media post, the NWPC said the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Region 5 approved Wage Order No. V-23 stating that the PHP45 daily wage hike will be given in two tranches.

The first tranche, amounting to PHP20 will be given on April 8 while the last tranche, amounting to PHP25, will take effect on Dec. 1 this year.

Upon the full effectivity of the wage hike, the minimum wage in the region will be PHP480. The current wage in the region is PHP435.
