Manila, May 12 -- Eighteen more electronic gates (eGates) were installed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Bureau of Immigration said installation of these new units, which were subjected to a dry run on May 5, brings the total number of eGates at the terminal to 30.

The use of e-Gates is limited to passengers of airlines compliant with the Philippine government's Advance Passenger Information (API) requirement.

For this initial phase, qualified users include arriving Filipino passengers from API-compliant airlines and departing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) traveling via API-compliant airlines.
