Baguio invests in rainwater harvesting to address shortage
BAGUIO CITY, July 27 -- The city government is continuously looking for funds to finance the construction of huge rainwater-harvesting facilities, seen as one of the solutions to address rising demand.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said Monday that the city hopes to receive assistance from the Office of the President, while completing the technical plan. The bidding is set in August.
"We had just talked to Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, and we hope to receive PHP90 million for the rainwater-harvesting facility that will be put up," he said.
This is the fourth water-harvesting facility to be established following the 6,000-cubic-meter facility at the Buyog watershed.
"Water is now number one in our priorities," Magalong said.
