Manila, Feb. 19 -- The Philippine Coast Guard cancelled all sea travel to and from Apo Island in Dauin, Negros Oriental on Thursday due to rough seas caused by the northeast monsoon or "amihan".
Lt. Marionne Abigal Enopia, Coast Guard Station Negros Oriental commander, told the Philippine News Agency in an interview that the travel suspension advisory issued at 7 a.m. remains in effect.
"All passenger motor bancas to and from Apo Island via the Dauin and Malatapay, Zamboanguita wharves are not allowed to travel due to huge waves and strong winds that can put the lives of the people at risk," Enopia said.
She explained that even without a gale force warning or a tropical cyclone, the Coast Guard can suspend sea travel for smaller vessel...
