AMLC says P163-M boost beefed up anti-money laundering drive
Manila, Aug. 27 -- The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) on Thursday said the PHP162.9 million in additional funding it received for 2026 has been instrumental in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its anti-money laundering efforts.
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor and AMLC Chairman Eli Remolona Jr. made the statement during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, nearly a year after Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on the flood control scandal highlighted gaps in the country's anti-money laundering efforts amid massive cash transactions involving contractors.
