Manila, Sept. 21 -- State-owned Al-Amanah Investment Bank of the Philippines has vowed to provide capital to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) involved in the halal industry.

In a statement on Sunday, the bank said Al-Amanah Bank Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer Amenah Pangandaman made the commitment during the Philippine Halal Industry Summit on Sept. 19.

Pangandaman said the bank is currently determining the total amount of funds to be allocated as support to MSMEs.

She said Al-Amanah is expected to widen access to financing for MSMEs that struggle to borrow capital because they do not fit the usual requirements of most banks.
