Manila, Sept. 10 -- Six remnants of the communist New People's Army (NPA) surrendered to the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) during internal security operations and localized peace engagements in several barangays in the first week of September.

The surrenderers were members of the Sub-Regional Sentro de Grabidad Westland under the dismantled North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee of the NPA.

Four of them yielded to BCPO's Police Station 6 and the City Intelligence Unit. They were identified by their aliases as Rey (31), Ray (31), and Kas (43), who served as couriers, and Jay (26), a Milisya ng Bayan member.
