40 Iloilo City villages flooded; residents urged to evacuate
ILOILO CITY, July 24 -- Forty barangays (villages) in this city have experienced flooding as rains from the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Kiyapo (international name Noul) affected parts of the area Friday.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) urged barangays, particularly those in coastal areas, to conduct preemptive evacuations as light to moderate rains, at times heavy, were expected.
During a virtual press conference, the CDRRMO said that as of 2 p.m., Molo district was the most affected with 12 flooded barangays.
Other affected areas included La Paz with eight barangays; City Proper and Mandurriao with six each; Jaro and Lapuz with three each; and Arevalo with two.
