Manila, April 10 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has distributed a total of PHP152.4 million in cash relief assistance to 30,029 tricycle drivers across the region.

DSWD-NIR public information officer John Paul Ocate said on Friday this represents a 95.04-percent accomplishment of its target beneficiaries of 34,977.

"The payout is still ongoing today in Bacolod City (Negros Occidental)," he said.

The Cash Relief Assistance distribution, which is intended to help tricycle drivers cope with the increasing fuel prices, has been held since Wednesday in the different cities in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.
