Manila, Aug. 20 -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assured the public that "meritocracy" is still a big part of the service, and emphasized that an investigation is now ongoing regarding the alleged "stolen valor" incident involving one of its Air Force reservists.

"The AFP remains committed to upholding the integrity, meritocracy, and credibility of its processes. Any verified irregularities shall be addressed in accordance with existing rules and regulations," it said in a statement late Wednesday,

A review of the policies and procedures on the recruitment, promotion and conferment of awards to personnel of the reserve force is also underway.
