MANILA, Aug. 9 -- Parts of the country will experience rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or "habagat," the weather bureau said Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Bicol Region, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Moderate to heavy rains could result in flash floods or landslides, PAGASA warned.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the archipelago.
