DAVAO CITY, July 22 -- The southwest monsoon, locally known as "habagat," has affected 1,931 families, or 5,663 individuals, across parts of Davao Region, the regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Wednesday.

In data sent to the Philippine News Agency, DSWD 11 (Davao Region) reported that it has already extended PHP4.1 million worth of assistance to affected families.

The agency added that 308 houses were destroyed and 275 were damaged.

In Davao del Sur, the municipalities of Kiblawan and Sulop reported a combined 359 families, or 1,173 individuals, affected.

"No internally displaced persons or damaged houses were recorded," the agency added.
