India, April 14 -- ShinyHunters had hacked Rockstar's games' files earlier and had placed a ransom demand of $2,00,000. But Rockstar Games failed to pay them $2,00,000 and as a result they leaked 6.5TB of Rockstar Games data on the dark web. ShinyHunters dumped over 78 million records of Rockstar's internal metrics after the studio ignored their $200,000 ransom demand on April 13, 2026. The breach, tied to a third-party analytics flaw, exposed GTA Online's dominance with PlayStation leading weekly bookings at $4.48 million and just 4% of players driving the revenue through big spenders.
