India, Aug. 12 -- All the leaks regarding the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max are making "Pro Max" an upgrade cue, straight from Apple's naming game. The chipset data doesn't match: this new high-end variant could be using weaker silicon than the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ it is replacing.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max global variant is tipped to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, which was introduced in May 2026, according to current leaks. With this generation, Xiaomi appears to have changed the name of its flagship Note variant from "Pro+" to "Pro Max", while the global model could use a lower-tier Snapdragon chip than last year's Redmi Note 15 Pro+.
