India, Aug. 5 -- Minecraft's next feature drop is taking shape around a simple idea: exploration should lead somewhere useful. The latest test build adds maps to abandoned camps and expands concrete with stairs and slabs, giving survival players clearer reasons to travel and builders more control over form.

The features are available in a Java Edition snapshot and are expected to reach Bedrock Edition beta and preview builds soon. Because they remain in testing, recipes, behavior, and availability may change before release.

Some abandoned camp chests can now contain maps. These may point to another camp or to a different structure in the Overworld. That small change gives camps a more important role. Instead of acting only as temporary ...
