India, Sept. 29 -- Sometimes the best way to shake up a Minecraft session is to leave the familiar behind and jump into something that plays by a different set of rules.

This autumn's Java Realms release adds 9 new maps built around grinding, exploration, score chasing, roleplay, and a few situations where one bad move can wreck an otherwise clean run. The lineup stretches from resource-hungry labyrinths to skyscraper tightropes and quiet settlements floating in space.

There are also major updates for existing maps and several returning favorites, giving regular Realms players plenty of reasons to queue up another session.
