India, Sept. 2 -- Google's September Android Feature Drop is a good example of how Android updates work these days. New features do not always land through one big operating-system upgrade. Some arrive through Google apps, while others still need the latest version of Android.

That split matters this month. Google is adding five features across Gemini, Find Hub, Google Messages, and Google Keep, but availability ranges from Android 9 all the way to Android 17. In plain English, two people with Android phones may see very different updates.

Google is giving Find Hub a new job beyond tracking connected devices and tagged objects.
