Black Ops 6 is leaving Call of Duty HQ but this is not a shutdown story
India, July 6 -- For many Call of Duty players, the biggest enemy has not been another squad. It has been the install screen. Activision's decision to move Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 out of the main Call of Duty install on July 7, 2026, is a practical change, but it says a lot about where the franchise's launcher strategy is heading. Black Ops 6 will become a standalone download at 09:00 PT on July 7. Players who own the game will need to download it again as a separate title. Activision has also said older Black Ops 6 content inside the shared install will be removed automatically to free storage space.
