Before upgrading RAM for local AI check what really limits speed
India, Aug. 7 -- More memory can help a computer load larger artificial intelligence models, but it does not always make them run faster. For most users, 32 GB is a sensible starting point, while 64 GB or 128 GB suits heavier development and research workloads.
Local artificial intelligence has turned system memory into an important buying decision. However, adding more random-access memory does not automatically improve performance.
For most people, 32 GB offers enough room for smaller and mid-sized models. Developers handling larger models, longer prompts, or several AI tools at once may benefit from 64 GB. Systems with 128 GB are mainly useful for large models, long context windows, and multi-agent projects.
