India, Sept. 16 -- India's Central Consumer Protection Authority has intensified its investigation into Apple following complaints that the iOS 18 update affected the functionality of some iPhones.

At the centre of the Apple iOS 18 probe are allegations that the software update caused display lines and microphone problems, leaving some consumers with high out-of-pocket repair expenses. The link between iOS 18 and the reported hardware problems has not yet been established.

The regulatory move brings important questions around software responsibility, warranties and consumer protection in one of Apple's growing markets.
