Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5 is here, but there's more to it than faster AI
India, Oct. 8 -- Anthropic has introduced Claude Haiku 5.5, a smaller AI model aimed at handling everyday tasks quickly and at a lower cost. It is designed for things like summarising information, sorting data and running AI-powered tasks at scale. Anthropic says it is the fastest Haiku model so far and costs much less than the previous Claude Haiku 4.5.
Haiku 5.5 is aimed at tasks that happen repeatedly and at scale. Anthropic specifically highlights summarisation, classification, database queries and compaction, along with AI agent workloads. It is also designed for speed-sensitive applications such as live customer support and browser use.
That positioning is important because Haiku 5.5 is not meant to replace Anthropic's larger mode...
