Punjab, Sept. 23 -- The deep depression is expected to cross the coast tonight, between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, close to Kalingapatnam. The IMD has a red warning in place. Winds are 55 to 65 kmph, gusting to 75.
Where it is
At 5:30 am the system was about 70km south-south-east of Kalingapatnam and 150km south of Gopalpur, moving north-westwards.
After crossing, the forecast track takes it inland towards north-west India and on towards adjoining parts of Nepal - which is why the rainfall warnings extend well past the two coastal states.
