Punjab, Oct. 3 -- India won six gold medals in a single day at Aichi-Nagoya - three in boxing, and one each in women's hockey, wrestling and recurve archery. The hockey gold ended a 44-year wait. It is the best day India has had at an Asian Games.

India beat China 1-0. Lalremsiami scored in the 10th minute. Savita Punia saved a penalty stroke in the second quarter, and India held on for the remaining two.
It is only India's second ever women's hockey gold at these Games and the first since 1982. It also carries direct qualification for the LA 2028 Olympics, which is worth more than the medal.
