Punjab, Sept. 22 -- India close day three of the Asian Games on seven medals - one gold, four silver, two bronze. The men's badminton team have assured an eighth. The shooters missed one by a place.

Badminton: one team through, one out

The men beat Japan 3-0 in the quarter-final to reach the last four and guarantee at least a bronze.

Beating Japan 3-0 in their own country, in a team event, is the most impressive Indian result of the day after the cricket. It is also the tie nobody expected to be straightforward.

The women lost 1-3 to Japan in their quarter-final and are out, after PV Sindhu had gone down 23-21, 18-21, 11-21 to Akane Yamaguchi in the opening rubber.

Shooting: fourth, and no medal
